3rd place Welsh political party Plaid Cymru have had their objection to Prince William being Prince of Wales thrown out by all other Welsh Parties.
Adam Price, leader of the self-styled “Party of Wales” has had his nose out of joint ever since King Charles III announced Prince William and Princess Catherine as Prince and Princess of Wales, a title which holds no power but can promote Wales on the world stage.
The Welsh “Government” as a devolved assembly has no power to prevent William from taking up the title meaning that the motion by Plaid Cymru was nothing more than virtue signalling by the smallest political party in Wales, much to the disgust of Welsh Nationalists.
In a failed effort to get a vote on the issue, Plaid Cymru deputy leader Sian Gwenllian said that the Welsh Government had a key role in responding to the decision to give the title to Prince William “without consultation with Government or the people of Wales
“The Welsh Government has a key role now in leading a national conversation with the people of Wales on these issues, and the Senedd too has a crucial role as the democratically elected body representing the views of the people of Wales,
“So, will you confirm that the Government is planning to allocate time in the parliamentary timetable to allow the Senedd to have a meaningful vote on these issues?”
But Plaid Cymru’s vocalisations fell on deaf ears given that the Welsh Government has no role in the position and only has limited powers on some Welsh matters.
