Money for more ministers, but not for nurses says Vaughan Gething

In an interview on BBC Wales news, Vaughan Gething told NHS staff that he understood why they wanted to strike but insisted there was simply not enough money to give them a fair pay deal.

The news may come as a bitter pill to swallow for nurses when they see that he has just set aside £11m for welsh language “strongholds” and is planning along with his Welsh Labour leader to increase the number of salaried Welsh Ministers in the Senedd, at an estimated cost of £100m.

Just those two projects alone would provide enough to give every nurse in the Welsh NHS an above-inflation pay rise but there is more…

Vaughan and his team are also planning to introduce a nationwide 20mph speed limit for city centres, something which will cost another £33m.

Welsh Labour also has multiple vanity projects on the go such as failing business parks which business doesn’t want due to access issues and M4 problems and an airport that has cost the taxpayer over £100m in the last 7 years and is still making massive losses.

So, please Vaughan, look the nurses in the eye and tell them there is no money to give them a fair pay rise!
